This medallion quilt’s use of colour shading puts an attractive twist on the traditional “railroad”, “flying geese” and “quick cut triangle” techniques.  You will learn appliqué assembly and sewing shortcuts that will change your quilting life forever.  It fits a queen size bed perfectly measuring 220cm x 220cm.  This workshop is one and a half days.

Student Requirements:

The optional kit contains all fabric for the quilt top. No backing, batting or binding fabrics are included.

• Basic Sewing Supplies
• Fabric for the top (If the optional kit is not purchased):
  o Background fabric: 1m for appliqué of Protea
  o Eight fat quarters of each of three shades for patchwork:
  - 8 x cream,
  - 8 x brown,
  - 8 x teal
  o 1m dark “blue” for borders
  o 1m “paisley” for corners of the centre block and borders
  o 20cm cream for border
  o Scraps or 10 cm each of fifteen shades of pink and corals for Protea flowers
  o 10cm x 110cm green for leaves of Protea
  o 10cm x 100cm brown/dark green for stems
  o 20cm x 20cm each of two shades of cream for the inside of proteas
• 100% cotton machine threads to match fabrics
• Water-soluble glue (Pritt)
• 1m x 1m appliqué paper
• 1m x 1m Tear Away
• Light/white Teflon appliqué sheet
• Removable fabric marker
• Pencil
• Masking tape
• Fine permanent marker
• Fabric and paper scissors
• Quilt ruler
• Cutting mat and rotary cutter with a new blade
• Sewing machine in good working order;
  o Appliqué presser foot
  o Quarter-inch stitch presser feet
• Extension cord, 15 amp plug or adaptor, surge protector plug
