Details

Students will work on domestic and midarm (sitdown) quilting machines fitted onto table-top and hoop quilt frames as well as standard quilt frames.  Students will receive a pattern for a heart which they will draw in the centre of their work.  They will learn how to couch various thicknesses of yarn successfully.  They will learn how to use rulers to draw up a plan for couching and filling in other difficult spaces.  Students will learn how to control the yarn as well as the machine while they couch.  By the end of class, they will have a beautifully couched wall hanging that will just need binding.

Student Requirements:

The compulsory kit contains 100% cotton fabric; batting; backing fabric; yarn; gold yarn; 1 x Isacord machine embroidery thread

• Basic Sewing Supplies
• Small sharp scissors – curved if possible
• Marking pens: Purple air erasable pen or blue water-soluble pen or white/silver pencil
• Quilting gloves – nitrile coated preferably to rubber coated
• Cutting mat and rotary cutter with a new blade
• Straight-line ¼ inch-thick longarm ruler
