Enjoy a time of fun and playfulness as you use your own handwriting to embellish a small quilt. Learn how to prepare the written words and hand-appliqué them to the quilt. Further embellishing techniques and quilting suggestions will be discussed in order to complete the quilt.
Student Requirements:
- Basic Sewing Supplies
- Fabric for the top:
o Background fabric 25”x18” (64cm x 46cm)
o Lightweight stabilizer (Thin iron-on Vilene) 24”x17” (61cm x43cm)
o 2 or 3 Fat Quarters for lettering. Your choice of prints or solids. They should contrast with the background
o Scraps for applique motifs
- Perlé cotton #8 or D.M.C thread for appliqué in the colour of your choice
- Embroidery needles #7 or #5
- Thimble
- Needle grabber (optional)
- Scissors:
o Large fabric scissors and paper scissors
o Small embroidery scissors
- Marking pen
- 12”x6” quilter’s ruler
- Small 12”x18” mat
- Teflon sheet
- ½ m Fusible Webbing /Appliqué paper
- ½ m Freezer paper (some will be available if you do not have any)
- 6 sheets A4 paper
- Black Koki pen (Artline 70)
- Pencil and eraser
- Notebook and pen
