Macky will teach you the techniques required to make a beautiful oval rug. These easy techniques will enable you to make mug rugs, placemats, table runners, baskets, bath mats, pet sleeping mats and more. Fundamentally being an up-cycling project is great for our environment too.
Student Requirements:
The compulsory kit contains a Stitch Tool
- Basic Sewing Supplies
- Any unwanted linen, curtains and fabric (cotton or poly-cotton, new or used) can be used but you can obviously purchase fabrics (sheeting would be a good choice) specifically to match your décor. Because of differences in fabric weight and length, it is not possible to say how many strips are required. A small project will use less fabric than a larger project.
o Tear your fabric into 2" wide strips between 180cm and 230cm long. (If strips are shorter, you will have more joins.)
o Fold them wrong sides together down the length and iron your strip WRONG sides together.
o If you are adding thick denim or other thicker fabrics cut your strips 1" wide and do not iron.
o Wider and thinner strips may be mixed.
- A roll of 20mm ribbon or tape to match your fabric selection (the ones I buy are 30m long but you do not use it all).
- A pair of scissors
NOTE: Macky will assist with fabric choices and cutting instructions after registration
