Free motion quilting for Domestic Machine Quilters. Whether you are a beginner or more experienced, Telene is excited to share her tips to get you quilting like a pro! This 2-day course will set you on your free-motion quilting path to freedom! On Day 1 Telene will focus on all the free-motion quilting basics from scratch to help the absolute beginner and then also explore other techniques during the afternoon like ruler quilting and using stencils.On Day 2 you will create, with the help of stencils and the guidance of Telene, and quilt your very own wholecloth quilt. A great opportunity to put all the information from Day 1 into practice. This will be a fully packed 2-day adventure you do not want to miss!

Student Requirements:
- Basic Sewing Supplies
- Practice: 4 or 5 quilt sandwiches that are about fat quarter size.
- Wholecloth: Plain fabric (or plain-ish fabric) for the quilt top measuring around 50cm x 50 cm
- Batting and backing that measures 20cm larger than the top (if your top is 50cm x 50 cm, your batting and backing should be around 70cm x 70cm)
- Machine quilting thread (good quality)
o Thread that will show up against fat quarter sandwiches
o Thread to closely match wholecloth or contrasting colour if you feel daring
- Machine needles – Telene likes Topstitch needles in a 90/14 size
- Sewing machine extension table
- 3 Empty bobbins for your machine
- Marking pens – blue water erasable fabric pen, white chalk pen, white pounce pad, and/or similar
- A long ruler to mark with
- Extra light/desk lamp
- Cushion for your back
- 505 Temporary Adhesive Spray and/or basting pins
- Sewing Machine in good working order;
o machine manual
o free-motion quilting foot or darning foot
- Extension cord, 15 amp plug or adaptor, surge protector plug
- Optional extras:
o Quilting Gloves
o Ruler foot
o Machine quilting rulers suitable to your machine (if you have)
o Supreme Slider/quilt polish
- Precutting instructions will be provided after registration. Precutting and preparation must be done before class, as there will not be class time available for cutting.
NOTE: Know how to drop (or cover) your feed dogs on your machine (we don’t know how every model works). Please check your user manual if you are not sure.
