GOOD HOPE QUILTERS GUILD IS A GROUP OF 270 CREATIVE LADIES OF ALL AGES. WE ARE SPREAD FAR AND WIDE IN THE WESTERN CAPE. WE WANT THE YOUTH IN THE AREA TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE HAND CRAFT AND NEEDLE CRAFT UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF EXPERIENCED TEACHERS.

THESE WORKSHOPS WILL RUN DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS AND WE ARE HOPING TO INFLUENCE THE STUDENTS INTO WANTING TO LEARN AND CREATE MORE. WE SHALL BE HOLDING THE WORKSHOPS AT WYNBERG GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL IN THEIR BALLET HALL AND TECHNOLOGY CLASSROOM.

THE WORKSHOPS WILL RUN FROM MONDAY THE 27TH OF JUNE TO FRIDAY THE 1ST OF JULY.

THE MORNING SESSIONS WILL BE FROM 9.30 TO APPROX 12.30 AND THE AFTERNOON SESSIONS WILL BE FROM 1.30 TO APPROX 4.30PM.
THERE ARE 2 FULL DAY WORKSHOPS WHICH INVOLVE SEWING MACHINE STITCHING. FOR A STUDENT TO PARTAKE IN THESE CLASSES, THEY WILL NEED TO BRING THEIR OWN SEWING MACHINE ( OR MUM’S) AND BE ABLE TO USE IT CONFIDENTLY. THERE WILL BE TOO MANY STUDENTS TO BEGIN TEACHING THEM HOW TO USE THEIR MACHINE.

ALL CLASSES WILL INCLUDE A KIT AND A FEW WILL REQUIRE THE STUDENT TO BRING SOMETHING EXTRA OF THEIR OWN FROM HOME.

TEA/COFFEE/ROOIBOS AND FRUIT JUICE WITH BISCUITS WILL BE SERVED DURING THE CLASS.

	BARBARA - APPLIQUE AND EMBROIDERY CARDS Learn to applique a simple motif and outline it with blanket stitch. Embellish and make into a greetings card Half day workshop Kit is supplied Cost including kit: R150 Experience: Need to be able to sew Age: 10 years and upwards. Workshop day: Friday the 1st of July Time: 9.30 - 12.30
	BARBARA - CRAZY PATCHWORK Learn a few fun embroidery stitches and embellishments while making a beautiful piece of crazy patchwork to mount in a greeting card. 	BETTIE - AUSTRALIAN CROSS STITCH Learn the art of doing cross stitch on gingham material and design your own table runner or place mat Half day workshop Kit is supplied Cost including kit: R150 Experience: Be able to work with a large needle Age: 8 years and upwards. 	BETTIE - PIXEL PICTURE BAG Using your sewing machine you will make a lovely bag with a flower on it in pixels FULL DAY WORKSHOP Kit supplied Cost including kit: R300 Experience: Be able to sew on the machine confidently Age: 10 years and upwards Workshop day: Thursday the 30th of June Time: from 9.30 - 12.30 then 1.30 to 4.30 ( a break in between) YOU NEED TO BRING: SEWING MACHINE WITH PEDAL, THREAD, SHARP SCISSORS, MACHINE NEEDLES, PINS
	BETTIE - JAPANESE FOLDED BAG Lovely little drawstring bag to make by hand. 	COLLEEN - MOSAIC HEART Come dressed in your old clothes or wear an apron and have fun creating a beautiful heart in red and white, using grouting. 	FIONA - FABRIC PODGE TRAYS Come dressed in your old clothes or wear an apron and have fun creating a handy tray covered in stunning fabric and then get messy with podge to give it a lovely finish. Half day workshop Kit is supplied Cost including kit: R150 Experience: None needed. Age: 8 years and upwards. Workshop day: Tuesday the 28th of June Time: 1.30 - 4.30pm
	HELENA - CHRISTMAS TREE STAR DECORATION Make a beautiful star decoration that can be used on the Christmas tree or made into a mobile. 	LYN - CARD MAKING Enjoy making a card, using pre-cut, embossed fronts with a variety of themes to choose from, decorating with glitter, buttons, ribbons etc Half day workshop Kit is supplied Cost including kit: R150 Experience: None needed. 	RENEE - STONE FAMILY AND SOCK TOYS Spend a fun morning making two items, a stone family which you will decorate and surround with living succulents and then make a toy out of socks or gloves.
