Ready to try something different? Create a “paper fabric” base (11 inches x 13 inches) on which to be creative with fused appliqué, machine stitching and hand stitching. A very relaxed class ... with very few rules! When complete, mount on a 14 inches x 16 inches canvas or stitch onto a quilted background.
Student Requirements:
Quilt can be made as a table runner (175cm x 35cm) or quilt (160cm x 160cm)
- Basic Sewing Supplies
- A piece of thick interfacing (11 inches x 13 inches)
- Approx. 5 very colourful pages from a magazine (the colours will become muted in the process) and any other interesting paper you may wish to use … sheet music, handwritten letter/recipe, words, labels, handmade paper, maps etc.
- Fusible web to apply flowers, leaves and vase
- Felt for flower centres
- A piece of dress pattern paper or tissue paper (12 inches x 14 inches)
- Fabric scraps for the vase, leaves and flowers
- Paper scissors and small sharp fabric scissors
- A small quantity of white PVA (wood) glue in a jar and a craft paintbrush
- A few sheets of A4 paper, pencil and eraser
- A 12 inches ruler
- A tube of Bostik Sew Simple glue (Macky gets hers at Checkers)
- A selection of machine threads, hand embroidery threads, a few strands of wools and tapestry wools in greens and browns
- Machine embroidery needles
- Sewing Machine in good working order;
o Darning presser foot and
o Machine appliqué presser foot
- Extension cord, 15 amp plug or adaptor, surge protector plug
