Dear Quilters
It is a privilege to welcome you to the beautiful Stellenbosch, home of the 21st South African Quilt Festival: Diversity to be held in Stellenbosch, 5 - 9 October 2022. We trust that you will have an exhilarating time at the Festival!
As a committee we are working hard to make this quilt festival an experience beyond expectation – one that will show and inspire the diversity within the quilting community and excite visitors to broaden their own quilting horizons. As COVID forced us to make some changes and reduce risks, we have decided not to host any international teachers for this festival as travelling to South Africa is very uncertain. Sad, but thank you for understanding. Luckily we are blessed with many good local teachers!!
Apart from the natural and cultural diversity the Western Cape offers, there is a diversity of quilts on display and classes and activities for you from which to choose.
Come make new friends while learning new skills and enjoying our exciting hobby together! You will be inspired and go home an inspiration.
We are glad that currently all COVID restrictions have been lifted, but we will of course implement these if reintroduced. The GHQG and Festival Management will take every precaution possible for the safety of the Festival’s participants.
We are asking everyone to respect each other, and to respect our vendors and staff – those who have worked so hard over the past months to make this event happen. We want to host a Festival that is enjoyable to all who attend.
Please read the Indemnity under the Terms and Conditions.

Why Diversity as our theme?
The Western Cape is known for its diversity in landscape, fauna and flora, with the Cape Floral Region the smallest and most diverse of the 6 floral kingdoms in the world. The Cape is known as the Tavern of the Seas with an abundance of food from many nations, wines and warm hospitality.
Quilters are a diverse group with a diverse blend of talents, ideas and outlook. We come from different backgrounds, upbringings, customs and cultures, with various perceptions and experiences, creating unique stories with needle and cloth.
This Festival appreciates and celebrates our diversity as a country while we unify as a group of quilters dedicated to creating.
21st South African Quilt Festival will be held at Rhenish Girls’ High School in Stellenbosch.
21st South African Quilt Festival will be 5 - 9 October 2022 (09:00 to 18:00).
